1cy Yellow-legged Gull / Larus michahellis, Westkapelle - sea dike (The Netherlands) on 15 July 2009
Pictures of some fresh juvenile Yellow-legged Gulls taken on the sea dike of Westkapelle on 15 & 16 July 2009. In all individuals note the active moult in the scapulars and the wing-coverts. Especially the individual in the first two pictures(the second picture is a compilation of the same bird in flight) which even has replaced an inner greater covert(gc6)! Note also in the first individual the bulky build, heavy bill and long legs which clearly indicate a male.
